Competition Between Rolex And Omega Watches

Rolex and Omega are two famous brands in Switzerland, and they have different sales methods, which have been competed for a long period of time.

Rolex was registered in 1908 by Hans Wilsdorf, and it has been pursued for precision. As early as 1910, Rolex watches became the first to win the Swiss chronometer certificate that was issued by the Swiss official rating center of watch, and four years later, the British KEW awarded Rolex watches with A-level certificate, which was very strict to the navigation precision at the time. Since then, Rolex watches have become the symbol of precise chronometers. In 1933, Rolex launched Prince series with large balance and going barrel, and they could be adjusted through six, seven or eight directions, which were the first watches that are equipped with observatory quality. What’s more, the watches are equipped with 360-degree self-winding mechanism in 1931, so they were famous before 1960s.

However, omega watches were founded in 1848, but they didn’t appear in the observatory record. However, the famous 30T2 movement became the classic movement and made breakthrough in the observatory record. The 30T2 movement was soon modified into self-winding movement, namely the 3 series movement, and it was widely used in the Constellation series in 1952. Especially, with the expiration of Rolex 360-degree self-winding mechanism patent in 1948, Omega designed the 5 series movement with the 360-degree self-winding mechanism. Although the Omega watches are successful later than Rolex watches, they adopt precise Constellation series to compete against Rolex, and they achieved the overlord status throughout the 1960s with excellent performance and high quality of 5 and 7 series movements.

At present, Rolex watches are more popular than Omega watches, but the two brands have their own characteristic watches, which attract different favors of different people.
