On July 26 of 2016, “Solar Impulse 2” landed successfully in Abu Dhabi, and its cooperative partner, famous Swiss watch brand Omega, congratulated to Mr. Bertrand Piccard, Mr. André Borschberg and the whole project team of “Solar Impulse”.
As an important milestone in the human’s flight history, Omega feels it is a tremendous honor. Since 2006, omega has provided various technical improvements to help the team to complete the global flight only relying on the solar energy. At the beginning, Omega invented performance simulation and test system to help pilots to res important parameters, and then it also developed ultralight landing light system.
To show support to the “Solar Impulse” Project, the Omega Speedmaster series is added with a new member--- Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 Solar Impulse Limited Edition, which can remind people of the great project.
The watches are not only outstanding timepieces, but also show praise for the “Solar Impulse” Project. Blue dials are shown with white scales that are covered with Super-LumiNova coating , and the central window can offer liquid crystal display digital elements. Made of grade 2 titanium material, the watches choose 5619 quartz movement, and the case backs are stamped with Solar Impulse “Around the World” patch, and engraved with the watch name and the words “TESTED AND QUALIFIED BY ESA”.
Because of the grand cooperation, the
